About the event
Spend some quiet time up and close with our alpacas and nature. As the alpacas graze around us in the paddock, sit down and knit, crochet, stitch or relax amongst a group of like-minded fibre lovers.
- Watch the mothers and their crias (babies) grazing, napping, dust rolling and being "alpacas" in their natural environment
- Chairs and picnic blankets will be provided
- Our alpaca yarn will be available for sale at a discount rate
- In case of light rain, we will go undercover in the barn to knit/crochet while the alpacas eat nearby
- Intimate, quiet small group (no large crowds)
- BYO hot drink, sandwich, or enjoy a hot meal afterwards at our local Harcourt General Store (booking recommended) or the many eateries in Castlemaine
Will I be able to pet the alpacas? No, the alpacas will be grazing nearby, and you can see them in their natural environment. We are a responsible, ethical and high-welfare alpaca farm, which means we do not support certain practices such as petting zoos, using alpacas as prompts for selfies, carrying alpaca babies in arms, etc. You are welcome to take photos, but I hope you will enjoy crafting and watching the alpacas mindfully.
Can children attend? This is an adult event. Well-behaved, quiet teenagers interested in fibre and nature can attend, provided a parent supervises them. Please check with Rita before booking your teen.
Do I need to bring anything? BYO food and non-alcoholic drinks if you wish. Wear closed shoes suitable for walking on farmland. Bring your current craft project. If you don't have a project you are currently working on, don't worry! You can try our alpaca yarn or relax. Our farm is a non-smoking area. Please do not bring your dog.
Cancellations and refunds. The event will go ahead in case of light rain, as we can go undercover. In case of extreme weather (e.g. heavy rain), the event will be postponed to another date, or you will have the option of receiving a full refund.
